About Us

At the Poti Terminal, the Delta Petroleum Group's over 25 years of experience is combined with the latest engineering and environmental techniques. From ISPS Code approval to regularly scheduled and surprise drills and safety training seminars for all staff, there is a relentless focus on environmental stewardship and safety management. This same commitment to the environment that characterizes all Delta Petroleum Group facilities is one of the central reasons why the Poti Terminal has been approved by many leading oil majors.

The Poti Terminal, which was designed by a consortium of international experts including Briggs Environmental Services (UK), Petroleum Development Consultants - PDC (UK), Tebodin Consultants and Engineers (Holland), ABB Lummus (Czech Rep.) and Zenith Gamma (UK), meets all major international HSSE standards and complies with or exceeds the latest API standards. It is equipped with key HSSE features like:

  • Automated fire-fighting system
  • NFPA 30 Automatic level gauging system
  • Automatic temperature reading system
  • Overfill protection probes
  • Automated tank isolation valves
  • Closed system de-watering
  • Closed circuit television surveillance
  • Oil Spill Contingency Plan

While the emphasis is on prevention, preparedness is crucial, which is why Channel Energy has a full oil spill contingency plan that is regularly reviewed and updated and is designed to ensure all staff know exactly what their responsibilities are within the response plan in the event of unexpected incidents. These and other control features, like full security fencing and round-the-clock security patrols along with Delta Petroleum's spotless safety and environmental track- record made it possible to source financing for the Poti Terminal from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB), clear testimony to the quality of the project and Delta management's track record within the industry.
